About us

Living the yesterday today

Warwick Castle dates originally from 914, when Ethelfleda, the daughter of Alfred the Great ordered the building of an earthen hilltop rampart to protect the settlement of Warwick from the treat of Danish invaders. In subsequent centuries, starting with William the Conqueror and continued by various Earls of Warwick, the site was developed, extended and fortified in stone, with the gardens being landscaped by Lancelot ‘Capability' Brown in the 1750s.

Neglected and dilapidated at various stages of its history, the castle today has been restored to its former glory, with magnificent towers and ramparts. We operate a busy schedule of spectacular events running throughout the year, together with daily displays. With seasonal highlights such as our summer fireworks concerts and our Christmas Ice Rink there's always plenty going on.

Whether we're staging a stunning birds of prey display or a full mediaeval banquet, we encourage our customers to join in the fun. And the people we employ – from actors and tour guides to caterers and retail staff – all share the enthusiasm and dedication needed to go that extra mile in keeping our customers enraptured and enthralled. We're serious about fun – and you'll need to be, too.

Whether you join us on a seasonal or permanent basis, you'll benefit from a detailed induction (including a treasure hunt to help you get know our grounds) and full customer service training. You'll also have an appraisal every six months to help us identify your development needs.
